We cut out hearts from the cardboard box and put double tape on each side. After that, each child was asked which color ribbon or yarn they wanted to use for their hearts. The children had to try and wrap the ribbon or yarn around the heart.
Although it looked like a simple task, the children had to concentrate for quite a while to finish their hearts, and these are the results.
We also held a children's disco. We closed of the windows of our classroom with paper to make it extra dark. I brought some disco lights from home. I first let the children enter the classroom with the classroom lights still on. I asked them to sit down and told them that we will switch off the lights. I wanted the children to get used to the darkness and the different flickering disco lights. The children loved the different colors. Next we put on the music and everybody was ready to dance.
Sleepover Pajama Party and Movie
We asked the children to come to school in their pajamas and bring a cuddle toy, a blanket and a pillow.
We cleared out our snack room and put mats on the floor. Further, we put on a big screen to watch Trolls the movies. But before watching the movies the children had to hand over two tickets. One for the movie and one for popcorn. With the popcorn in our hands, we were ready to watch the movie.
We also put a big tree in our entry hallway with the caption "Our Friendship Tree". In this tree we put little notes for our friends and we hang our hearts we made in there as well. This tree is not only there for Friendship week, but the children can use it throughout the whole year.
We asked the children to bring gifts for their friends, which we put under the tree. The exchanging of gifts was the end of our week and everyone went home happy.
