When planning after school activities for a Preschool there are always questions in my mind.
I have joined Bikram Yoga at Yoga 42 a couple of times and I loved it. However, traffic can be very bad in Jakarta and I do not always have the time to go. Unfortunately...because I like to think that I make good and healthy choices. Living healthy is what we can teach children from an early age on. I spoke to Yoga 42 and they were very enthusiastic in helping us teaching the children to live a happy and healthy lifestyle. Therefore, Yoga for kids! So what is that Yoga does for children? How does it benefit children? If you live in a city like Jakarta, you know that you do not have many places to go with your children (accept the mall). Children in Jakarta do not get that much movement or exercise as they should, simply because there are hardly any places where you can go to with your children to be physically active. Yoga for kids provides excellent activities in physical activities. It teaches you to stretch your body and how to become flexible. It also makes your body stronger and it teaches you to practice certain physical postures. This way, children develop a better awareness of their bodies, their abilities, and their limitations. Yoga is also good for the mental and emotional well being of the child. It can help to practice stillness and to become one with your mind. In Yoga, you will learn how to breathe properly and this will help your child build concentration and bring peacefulness to their bodies. I often hear parents saying...Well, I do not think my child likes all these boring poses or I think this will be too difficult for my child.... Believe me, your child does not need to be an experienced Yogi to be able to join in with Yoga for Kids. I have seen the Yoga 42 teachers interact with the children. They are all certified and experienced teachers. You can see from the way that they teach that there is no pressure and everything is done within the ability of the child. Furthermore, the classes are far from boring, because the teachers will sing songs and use stories to spark the imagination of the children. Overall, Yoga for Kids is all done in a fun and healthy way that will surely help us to create a healthy body, healthy mind, and healthy lifestyle.
