Have you ever been to a real art auction? If you have you know that it is very intense. If you have not then maybe you can imagine what it must feel like. For our art auction, we invited families, staff members and members from our corporate office. The children made individual paintings and also collaborated paintings. Here are some of the art pieces that the audience was fighting for. Every participant got their number which they would hold up for the bidding. The parents were very proud when they got the highest bid and were able to bring their child's art pieces home. The children also made art from recycle materials. These were sold for a small price. The whole purpose of the art auction was to support the World Literacy Foundation. According to the World Literacy Foundation, one out of five people in the world cannot read or write. To help, we decided to print my books "Jasmine and Kay" and distributed them to local schools and orphanages in Jakarta.
